Jack Ballard

Jack Ballard has written and performed Folk, Rock, Blues and Country songs professionally since 1967. A classically-trained cellist (he studied with Raymond Davis, principal cellist of the Seattle Symphony), he joined his first cover band as a vocalist/guitar player at 17 and never looked back. A practicing studio musician, Jack has written and recorded over two hundred songs.  Jack's tremendous harmonica ability and his gritty guitar leads make him one of the area's most noted all around musicians.  Over the years Jack has performed in nightclubs throughout the Pacific Northwest in bands with styles as varied as their names:

The Head-on Collision – Electric Bass Player/Lead Singer for this Top 40 dance band of 60’s and 70’s rock songs – classics when they first came out - Doors, Stones, Beatles, Animals, Rascals etc. House band for 3 years at Seattle’s Olympic Hotel (Now the Four Seasons Hotel).

Jaen – Started and played electric guitar for this all-original music band out of Bellingham. Wrote many of the band’s songs and was the lead singer. Played early outdoor Rock Festivals and in local Bellingham Concerts as well as in Bellingham Pubs.

Meatball – Original member of this hard rock and “British invasion” rock band out of Des Moines. Played Electric Bass and was Lead Singer. Played local clubs and concerts.

Child – Started this all-original music band out of Seattle. Perhaps the most noteworthy and successful band Jack played in…after he left it.

Easy Street – Original member of this Top 40 cover dance band out of Kent/Federal Way. Played electric lead guitar, harmonica and sang lead vocals. House Band at the Ebb Tide Restaurant in Kent for 3 years. Flawless 3-part harmony group.

Sky Dogy and the Bent Harp Blues Band – Lead Singer/Guitar/Blues harp player. Original and cover Country/Blues band. Noted harmony band. Jack performed the band’s theme song “Sky Dogy” on local channel 5 TV’s Seattle Tonight, Tonight show.

The Bruce Hughes Band – Top 40 Rock/Country dance band on the Washington Coast. Played clubs in Westport, Aberdeen, Hoquiam, Ocean Shores, Montesano, Centralia, Chehalis.

Duel – Original Duo out of Vancouver, Washington. Acoustic/Electric guitars mixed with vocal harmony.

JJ / The Jean Cunningham Band – Original and Top 40 Bands. Shared lead vocals, played electric lead guitar and blues harp. Some local TV exposure (Channel 7’s Northwest Today show) and played 3 years “on the road” in the 4 Western States and Alaska.

Phoenix – Original and Top 40 Country and Rock midi-backed duo. Shared lead vocals and played electric lead guitar, blues harp. Played with prolific singer/songwriter Eric Cook.

Stevens Pass – New Country/Classic Country Dance Duo out of Enumclaw. Played electric bass, lead guitar, harmonica and harmony vocals with well-known local singer Steven Curtis.

Jack & Meredith – New Country/Classic Rock. Probably the best vocals and harmony group in a lifetime of singing. Meredith is having her 2nd baby in July, otherwise you’d be hearing their sound for yourself. Check it out next year!

Jack Ballard - In-between all these bands, groups and duos, Jack has performed as a single, simply playing songs that he likes. Why not?

Jack Ballard is very active in his community and is well known by many as a soccer and baseball coach, den chief, church youth leader, cello teacher, and because he has written songs with classes of children in many of our Snoqualmie Valley schools.  You may be surprised!
